T-15 hours until I start my journey to Arctic Alaska. My final destination is the village if Kaktovik on Barter Island. It will take 4 flights and 30 hours to get there!

This is my third field season in the Arctic, so you might assume I’ve gotten the packing process down, but I haven’t! Packing is always a controlled chaos. It’s especially hard to think about fleeces, rain jackets, and hats when it’s 95 and sunny everyday in South Texas! I just hope all my clothes and gear for a month fit in my trusty LLbean duffle…
